Kammermusik-Matinee 15. März 2025

Ferdinand de Jean was a surgeon by profession, but also a talented flutist who had the brilliant idea of commissioning Mozart to write "3 small, easy and short concertos and a pair of quartets for the flute". The Flute Quartet K. 285a is (just like the two flute concertos) a result of this commission. This concert also features two piano trios: on the one hand, Arvo Pärt's "Mozart Adagio", in which the Estonian composer arranges the Adagio from Mozart's early Piano Sonata K. 280 with great respect for the original and his own deliberately placed sounds: a musical and spiritual encounter between the 18th and 20th centuries. On the other hand, the Piano Trio No. 1 will be played, which Anton Arensky, the teacher of Rachmaninov, Scriabin and many other Russian composers, wrote in memory of the cellist Karl Davidoff.
